So I had a house party last night, and a few people crashed here. By the morning, almost everyone was gone except for this one girl who's just hanging around, waiting for her ride to show up later. She's just sitting on my couch looking bored, scrolling through her phone. I start talking to her, just killing time. I mention how crazy the party got and then I bring up the state of my bathroom. I tell her straight up, 'You wouldn't believe the state of the toilet. Piss all over the seat and rim, shit stains in the bowl, and god knows what else from last night.' She makes a face, and I just look at her and say, 'Hey, since you're just waiting around anyway... would you mind cleaning it for me?' And she just looks at me for a second and says, 'Sure.' It's like something clicks in their head and they just can't form the word 'no'. Just like that. No argument, no asking why I don't do it myself. She just gets up, finds some cleaner and a brush, and heads into the bathroom to scrub my filthy toilet. It’s honestly incredible how easy it is to get them to do stuff for you if you just ask with a little confidence. She's in there right now dealing with a stranger's mess because I simply suggested it. I can hear her in there, scrubbing away. She's really putting her back into it, trying to get every last spot. I had to go check on her progress and she was so focused on the water line and toilet seat that she missed all the grime up under the rim. I told her, 'Hey, you need to get way up in there, at the very top of the inside. You can't even see it unless you really get your face down in there.' And sure enough, she leans right over the bowl, burying her head in the toilet to see what she's doing so she can scrub it clean for me.
